Circulating Black History: Community Spend Week

Carrboro Town News Posted on February 02, 2026

Join the Town of Carrboro, the Chapel Hill–Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, and the Black Business Alliance for Circulating Black History: Community Spend Week, a community-wide effort to celebrate Black History Month through collective economic action.

Throughout the week, we will gather at Black-owned businesses to intentionally spend, connect, and support—bringing forward a long tradition of economic cooperation by turning history into present-day impact. By showing up together, we help generate immediate revenue for local businesses and strengthen our shared community economy.

Community Spend Week stops include:

  • Monday, Feb. 16 | 12 - 2 p.m.  — The Flying Pierogi (101 Two Hills Dr #140, Carrboro)
  • Wednesday, Feb. 18 | 12 - 2 p.m.— Tonya’s Cookies (400 S Elliott Rd C, Chapel Hill)
  • Thursday, Feb. 19| 10: a.m. to 4 p.m.  — Carolina Car Wash (414 E Main St, Carrboro)

Registration is free, and participants are encouraged to bring cash for the most direct economic impact, though all forms of payment are welcome. You may register for one, two, or all three stops based on your availability.

Come be part of a meaningful way to honor Black history—by putting it into action today. We hope to see you throughout the week.

Join us as we honor the past by showing up in the present.
